I have always wanted to serve a mission ever since I was a little girl and I thought I would go until last summer when I started to date a boy I honestly did not know what to think anymore. But when he left on his mission I decided I would prepare to go on a mission and if the Lord wants me to do something else then I would be ready for where ever life took me.
It is interesting that the Lord has been preparing me to serve him and I had no clue until Conference came in October. For example every time I thought about school after this school year and what I was going to do I just kept getting the answer to not worry about it right now, you will know later. I had several options like transferring to Utah State, coming back at Snow, or even going to a different school but nothing seemed clear. As the school year went on it was crazy busy and awesome!!
Conference weekend came and I started working a week or two before and I didn't have work off, I prayed the night before and that morning that if I needed to watch conference live that I would some how be able too. I went to work that morning and at the time I worked at a calling place called Key Research. That morning I was not getting any surveys and just not having any luck. At first I was getting frustrated with myself and in my head I was like man they are going to send me home....(Light bulb) it dawned on me, I am going to be sent home! Sure enough I only worked an hour and was sent home. I got in my car to go back to my apartment and I said a prayer saying thank you.
I got to my apartment and had some yummy waffles that my roommate Tamlynn made with strawberries and whip cream! It was Heaven!! :) All of my roommates where surprised that I was home but it was Awesome!!
I had the great opportunity to watch conference with my lovely roommates Tiffany, Brittany, Jessica C. aka Eve, and Tamlynn. Our roommate Jessica Larsen was spending the weekend with her family, and our neighbor Colton joined us too.
Wow what a incredible first session of conference!! Words cannot describe the emotions. They announced that Sisters can go on a mission at 19!! WHAT??? It was like Oh my goodness I can go on a MISSION!!!!! Pretty much the coolest news EVER! Just that entire first session was a cry fest.
After the first Session was over pretty much my roommates, my old roommate Ashton and her roomie Syd came over, (Colton left) and we had pretty much like a testimony meeting! Like one you would have at girls camp or youth conference where everyone is crying well it was like that but times that by like 100!!! It was AMAZING!!! and we all talked about the inspiration we have all been given and what we learned and WOW!! amazing spirit!! :)
That night my roommates and I totally had a party while the boys all went to there meeting. We went Mattress surfing!! and then we had a sleep over in our living room!! SO MUCH FUN!!! :D
But of course the journey didn't end there. The next day we watched conference again, Sunday we didn't really cry but conference was still amazing and we definitely felt the spirit. I decided to tell the Lord hey if Bednar talks next I'll know you want me to go on a mission but then I said but I'll still go if he doesn't speak. No kidding the speaker ends and Uchdorf (I think) announced the next speakers and he was one of them I died!! I was like NO WAY I couldn't believe that just happened! So that was pretty cool!! :)
Months went on and right before Christmas break Tiffany, Brittany, and I started our papers so we could get our medical/dentist stuff done over the break.
Tiffany was the first to get her call to the San Pablo Philippines mission and she left in May
Then it was my Turn! not to long later. I opened my call on February 27, 2013. That Monday my awesome Bishop, Bishop Lindsey texted me saying my call had been assigned and pretty much I was freaking out and I was like AHHHH!!!! My call could come this week!!! So when it came to Wednesday I just wanted to know if it was here or not. The plan was to not open it until that weekend when my family came down for family day but then it CAME!! and well I ended up going home to open it!! Luckly my wonderful cousin Taylor got to come with me. :)
We finally reached Riverton and I just couldn't believe that I was about to open my ...MY Mission call!!! I was going to know where the Lord wanted me!!! Pretty cool!!
Wow! Opening my mission call was something!! I had family and friends there supporting me. The time had come, I opened the envelope and started reading but didn't even make it past my name before emotions took over. I read where I was going and everyone was cheering! In my head I was like...wait what?? It took a second for me to realize that I read that I was called to serve in the....
CHICAGO ILLINOIS MISSION!!!
My first thought was oh they film a lot of movies there haha and I was like WOW that is so cool! and then I read when I was leaving and it said July 24, 2013 and I was like Holy Cow that is FOREVER away!! and then I was like well that is all you guys want to know...then they asked what language I was speaking haha and I am speaking English!!1 :D WOOT WOOT :D Boy I couldn't believe it!! I am actually going on a mission!!
After that I ate some yummy taco soup that my wonderful Mom made and visited for a little bit before heading back to Ephraim. I said good byes and then my cousin Taylor drove back to Ephraim while I was calling and texting people! Thank You Taylor for driving. It was the fastest drive back to Ephraim EVER!! haha ;)
I got back to my apartment and was still freaking out! we decided that my roommates probably would have killed me if I didn't go home and open my call because I was freaking out that it was here. It would have been a LONG week!! haha
and then Brittany got her call in April before school ended. She is going to the San Fernando California Mission and she leaves the week before me on July 17, 2013. we are hoping we will see each other in the MTC because we will be there for a week together. *Hopefully that happens*
Now I leave for my mission in 16 days! Since I got my call my mission has split! I pretty much have the cities boarding the Lakes and then Indiana!! I am beyond excited to serve the Lord! I can't believe I leave so soon! It has come fast and I look forward to this next chapter in my life! Thank You everyone for helping me get where I am at today!!
I love you all!!! :D
