Fires are scary!
Hey Guys!!!
So I work at a Boy Scout Camp, Camp Scofield and yesterday I was evacuated due to the Seeley Fire . Now that I am home I have started to worry a little bit. When I was up at camp I was comforted and I new that all of us would be safe.
On Tuesday we watched the fire grow, we could only see the smoke but we watched that smoke grow and that night I even took some pictures, some of them are really cool because the sun was hitting it just right but it is also a scary thing.
Here is a picture when the sun isn't hitting it like the one before:
Here is one of the pictures I took that I think turned out awesome, I love our country! :)
Here is a picture at night and sometimes you could see the glow of the fire:
On Wednesday morning the smoke was not as bad so I really didn't think we would get evacuated. We woke up like normal and we had flags at 7:30pm My troop did flags and we sang the turtle song. (we as staff have troop friends, it is the best!) and then we went to breakfast and we had eggs, hash-browns, and YUMMY banana bread!!
Then before breakfast ended there was announcement that we would have a scout master meeting at 9am and that all programs would start at 9am instead of 9:30am. This meeting was about if we needed to be evacuated and what would happen. So we went on the rest of the morning like normal.
Only difference was I was answering phone calls from people's ward/families who were wondering if we are being evacuated and I would just say at this time we are not we are in contact with the forest people and we are safe but we are prepared if we need too. The biggest reason why I had the phone was if Rosanna called she was the one who would tell us if we needed to be evacuated. It was about 10:30ish when we received her call I went to give the phone to Colton and then he talked to Jeff and not five minutes later we had the sheriff guys telling us that needed to leave. So we shut everything down and told everyone that it was time to back and to not worry they had tell noon and us as staff had to be out by 5pm. We as staff helped everyone back up camp and leave. They had options to go to other camps or to just go home. Once all the scouts were all gone it was time for us (staff) To pack our things and go home.
It is really weird to be home when you know you should be at camp working. We don't have camp next week because of the 4th of July and this might just be a blessing. I keep looking online to see if there is anymore news about the fire or not. I want to know where the fire is, it is weird to think about that it could go through camp in the next few days, and part of me thinks it might but the other part doesn't think it will.
Well this is the story about my experience so far with the Seeley fire my heart goes out to the firefighters and I thank them for there hard work. I just wish all the fires in Utah would stop and no more would come, that would be nice. I've never hated fires so much in my life.
Everyone have a Wonderful Day!! Love you all!! :D
